Grave Robbers

Several months ago the Lord spoke to me about a topic close to gossip. He expounded on what it would mean for a Christian to rob a grave.

As children we are told not to be “Indian Givers,” which means to give something and take it back. But in this case, I’m calling it, “Grave robbing.” Sometimes we go to the site where we once repented, grab our shovels, and dig up what is meant to stay buried.

When we are given the opportunity to gossip, backbite, “Spill the tea”, in regards to someone’s past and we take this opportunity - we aren’t just getting the blood of that person on our hands...We’re getting the blood of Jesus on our hands.

Think on that a second.

See, In my little glance at Google, I found that, “Depending on the value of the stolen items, the penalties for these offenses can be up to a class B felony (punishable by one to 20 years imprisonment, a fine of up to $15,000, or both).”

Basically, what that tells me is that I cannot afford to find a sibilance of satisfaction is giving myself over to taking something that does not belong to me. That makes me a Thief.

YOU CANNOT AFFORD AN ETERNAL HELL FOR A TEMPORARY EXCHANGE.

Sin is temporary. It is temporary happiness, temporary fulfillment, and it is Temporary in its power if you give it to God.

Hell is not 20 years. It is forever.
The fine of sin is not $15,000 - it IS PRICELESS - you. Cannot. Afford. It.

In the natural sense, would you ever go traipsing around in a graveyard? No, you would not. Would you, in that graveyard, dig up a grave? Absolutely not.

But here’s the kicker: Is the spiritual any different?

N. O.

And yet, we still spill tea that’s not ours. We go digging up graves that don’t belong to us. We find ways to talk about others under the guise that we “know better” and “Can’t believe someone like them would do such a thing.”

But did YOU need a watery grave to leave your sins? Did YOU need a Savior’s blood to bury them over and over again? Did YOU need a Lifeline when you were drowning in the depth of despair?
Yes. We all did/do. (Musicians, come)

That person you know, the one you and your friends have been talking about?

After they have buried their sins in His ALL POWERFUL, EVER REDEEMING blood...not even THEY have a right to them. What makes us think that WE do?

Let’s look at it this way - if I know you’ve committed an immoral sin and I’m hanging out in a group and say, “Can you believe what _______ did?!” And begin to divulge your deepest secrets...You know what just happened? I looked God right in the face and said, “Your sacrifice is worthless.” His blood dripping from my hands, my tongue loosed with information that MAY NOT EVEN BE TRUE, I act entitled. “Well,” I say, “If they didn’t want anyone to know they did x,y,z then they shouldn’t have done it.” And while I may have a point, did Jesus say that to ME when I asked Him to forgive me? Not once.

Not. One. Single. Time.

The things that you have repented for - are not yours, mine, ours, theirs, etc.

THEY are HIS.
And so are We.

My mom always said that to be a Christian means to be “Christ like.“

If we are to be true Christians, we must also love like He loves. We have to love people through their mistakes, because he loved us through ours. So the next time you have the opportunity to dig around in the blood of Jesus Christ for sins that have already been covered… Remind yourself of what that blood cost...And then remind yourself that it is enough.

If you’re one of the people who need this love through a mistake you or someone close to you has made… I want you to remind yourself that if God can shut the mouth of the lion… He can shut the mouth of a backbiter.

So, what happens when people are against us? What happens when we are in need of defense against those who would do us harm after repentance?

His blood speaks on our behalf.

Read that again.

You don’t have to defend yourself. “If you can not afford a lawyer, one will be appointed for you,” and aren’t you glad it’s Jesus? Sin has no wager His Mercy cannot handle. COURT ADJOURNED.

Listen, please hear me, if you’ve done your part and have repented - He’ll do His part and be your defense.

You can take this to the BANK:
If it’s not your Grave, don’t go digging.
If it’s not your tea, don’t spill it.
If it’s not nice...DON’T SAY IT.

It PAYS to be kind.

And that’s the tea, Sis.
